2012 Directors and Officers of the Baton Rouge Bar Association announced

The BRBA Board of Directors and Section Officers were recently elected for 2012. The Association’s Jan. 12, 2012, Bar Luncheon will feature the installation of bar leaders and officers of the BRBA at De La Ronde Hall at 11:45 a.m.

Judge Melvin Shortess (Ret.) will officiate the swearing in ceremony. Judge Frank Polozola will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and Father Michael Schatzle will give the invocation.

The following are the newly elected members of the BRBA Board of Directors: Gail S. Stephenson, president; Michael S. Walsh, president-elect; Darrel Papillion, treasurer; Robert "Bubby" Burns Jr., secretary; and Preston J. Castille Jr., past president. The 2012 Directors at Large are Shelton Dennis Blunt, Linda Law Clark, Jeanne Comeaux, Kyle Ferachi, Karli Glascock Johnson and Amy Lambert. Ann K. Gregorie is the executive director of the Baton Rouge Bar Association.

Young Lawyers Section officers are Jamie Hurst Watts, chair; Scotty E. Chabert, chair-elect; Laranda Moffett Walker, secretary; and Amanda Stout, past chair. Young Lawyers Section Council members are Jodi Bauer, Kara Bergeron Kantrow, Scott Levy, Loren D. Shanklin and Victor J. Suane Jr.

Family Law Section officers for 2012 are Wendy Edwards, chair; Thomas Hessburg, chair-elect; Melanie Walters Chatagnier, secretary; and Laurie Marien, past chair.

Public Law Practice Section officers for 2012 are Henry Graham, chair; Lenore Heavey, chair-elect; Christopher K. Odinet, secretary; Stephanie LaGrange, at large representative; Lyla DeBlieux, judicial branch representative; Danielle Clapinski, executive branch representative; Dawn Watson, legislative branch representative; Kimberly Robinson, private attorney representative; Cynthia Childress Bohrer, local government representative; and Nina Hunter past chair.

LAWSUIT DEFENSE
If you are sued, you need to act within a short period of time or a default judgment may be taken against you. If you're sued because of an auto accident or other matter that you have insurance for, you need to turn the suit over to your insurance company right away. We represent members of East Baton Rouge Federation of Teachers and A+PEL, as well as individual teachers who have issues with their School Board involving tenure, assault pay, civil rights, etc.
